Red Ribbon Club
Red Ribbon is a globally recognized symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness. Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in educational institutes through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It helps them develop awareness towards healthy life style, importance of blood donation on regular bases and be cautious of blood related issues. The club initiates towards creating a support system for people suffering from HIV/AIDS and get rid of the stigma related to the disease. It motivates the youth to spread awareness towards HIV/AIDS through various programmes like rally, street drama, expert sessions etc. amongst peers and the society in general to create a better environment for everyone. It also makes them aware towards the preventive measures for this disease along with the knowledge of the availability of proper medical help.
Objectives:
· To create an awareness and to induce the spirit among youth to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against the patients
· To promote voluntary blood donation among youth.
· Sensitize youth regarding care and support needs of HIV affected people
· To train and encourage youth for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS and its preventive measures
